Angular House

houses

Houses 1, 4, 7, and 10—the most powerful houses, beginning at the Ascendant, IC, Descendant, and MC.

Ascendant

signs

The sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth. Also called the Rising sign. Determines your 1st house and how you appear to others.

Aspect

aspects

The angular relationship between two planets, determining how they interact. Major aspects include conjunction, opposition, trine, square, and sextile.

B

Big Three

signs

Your Sun sign, Moon sign, and Rising sign together. The three most important placements that form your core personality.

Birth Chart

basics

A map of the sky at the exact moment and location of your birth, showing the positions of planets in signs and houses. Also called a natal chart.

C

Cardinal

signs

A modality representing initiation and leadership. Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) begin each season.

Conjunction

aspects

An aspect where two planets are at the same degree (0°). The energies merge and intensify each other.

Mars

Represents action, drive, assertion, passion, and how you pursue your desires and handle conflict.

Mercury

Governs communication, thinking, learning, and how you process and share information.

Midheaven

houses

The MC (Medium Coeli), the highest point in the chart. Represents career, public image, and life direction. The 10th house cusp.

Modality

signs

One of three qualities (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable) that describe how signs take action. Also called quadruplicity.

Moon

planets

Represents your emotional nature, instincts, subconscious patterns, and what you need to feel safe and nurtured.

Progression

Retrograde

The apparent backward motion of a planet from Earth's perspective. Associated with review, delays, and internalization.

Rising Sign

signs

Another term for Ascendant. The zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at your exact birth moment.
